Miracles 4 Morrissey
John's Story

Do you believe in miracles? A miracle is defined as an extraordinary event involving divine intervention in human affairs.   That’s exactly what we’re trying to do, and we’re asking for your help to make it happen.

A little over 3 years ago John Morrissey was involved in making miracles for others. A loving husband and father of three, Theresa, Ryan (12), and Julia (6), he was living the American dream of working hard, owning a home and raising a family.  John was heavily involved in causes ranging from church and his community to his tireless efforts in raising funds for the families of children with special needs. Life wasn’t easy, but things were good.

In April 2006, John went in for a routine physical and was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his right kidney.  He had surgery the next month to remove the entire kidney.  All subsequent follow-up tests and scans seemed to show that the surgery was a success, until the scan in February 2008, which revealed that the cancer had spread and metastasized in his lungs.  Both lungs showed numerous cancerous nodules, which could not be surgically removed because of their quantity and size.  John began chemotherapy immediately, undergoing an extremely aggressive regimen. This treatment course has shown some success in slowing the progression of the disease but unfortunately the side effects of the medication have proven devastating to his overall quality of life.   He experiences pain from simple movements such as standing or walking.  Additionally he has difficulty eating or swallowing, suffers from migraine headaches, and has incurred several other crippling side effects as he courageously fights the illness.

This battle has taken its toll on John and his family.  Financially, they have drained all of their resources.  Even with health insurance, medical costs are extremely high.  Coupled with John’s inability to work due to the debilitating disease, the problem becomes even greater.  John’s wife, Eileen, who is a cancer survivor herself, works a full-time job while attending to the needs of John and their children.  Unfortunately her salary is not enough to cover all of the family’s expenses. A recovery of inspirational proportions is a real possibility, but cannot occur without the faith and assistance of not only John’s friends and family, but of anyone who sees the miracle in John.

Any and all donations will be gratefully accepted, and all monies raised will be used for the benefit of the family.

Thank you for your generosity of this cause!
